What is a Gabarit?
Your body, drawn in paper.
A gabarit (from the French for "template" or "gauge") is a personal body block — a flat pattern drafted from your exact measurements. Unlike commercial patterns that are built for an average body, your gabarit is built for yours alone.
At ThreadsbyMaeva, every garment begins with your gabarit. It captures your precise proportions — bust, waist, hip, back length, shoulder width, and more — and translates them into a pattern that fits the architecture of your body, not a size chart.
Your gabarit is saved and refined with each order. Over time, it becomes increasingly precise — a living document of your body's architecture.

What We Measure — and Why
All measurements are taken in centimetres. Precision matters — a 1 cm error in a key measurement can affect the fit of an entire garment.

Fullest part of the chest, tape parallel to floor

Natural waist — narrowest point of the torso
High Hip
7–9 cm below natural waist
